Nigeria gained her freedom from colonial rule on 1st October 1960. On this day everyone was filled with joy, smile and happines, Nigerians were happy and joyful about their freedom from the slavery of the White people.
Historically, during those days Nigeria's economy was stable, Tribalism is not rampant, religious intolerance is out of the minds of Nigerians then.
Today, Nigerians keep shouting for a Six letter words which is CHANGE. Everybody wants change, everybody wants Nigeria to be back on track not knowing we Nigerians are the change we're are yelling for. We forgot our Source which is the Almight, we engaged in so many vices, Tribalism is everywhere, religious intolerance, adultery, Corruption are always at everyone's mind which are detrimental to what the Almighty has said. Both religion that are common in Nigeria can testify to that.
The Qur'an explain: " And if the people of the town had believed and guarded against evil we would have certainly opened up for them blessings from the heaven..." Q7: 96
The Bible also says: " Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessings, because to this you were called so that you can inherit blessings. 1peter3:9.
On this note we should try to desist from evil acts and replace them with goodness. We're the CHANGE we need. Freedom can only exist on doing what is right.
Happy Independence day.
Abolaji Abdullahi.
