UNILORIN student survives kidnapping attempt, one still missing.

In the wake of a Student of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State; being declared missing, a student of the institution, Ms. Antonia Fagunwa survived a kidnapping attempt that was subsequently converted to robbery.

The student who had boarded a taxi painted in the obligatory green and yellow of Ilorin public transport mechanisms had been lucky as well as tactical in surviving the attempt. In an interview with her on the incidence, she narrated that the mood in the car aroused her suspicion, coupled with the subsequent sign language between two other passengers in the car.

She had pretended to neither understand nor speak Yorùbá when they tried to communicate with her, allowing the suspects to discuss at will, after she had heard one passenger whisper to the the other "b'awo ni'she yẹn?(how is the work going?). Having played mute to the Yorùbá language for minutes, the suspicious driver had asked her in Yorùbá one more time "Shebi PS l'eso p'en lọ (You said you were going to PS?)" and she had responded affirmatively. She said that some very short distance later, one of the two other occupants of the vehicle (asides her) mentioned again in Yorùbá "Igi eleera leleyi, ọmọ ọrẹ̀ d'eni (this tree has ants, and she's a protected child).

The victim, a paramilitary officer with the Unilorin Cadet Corps, said she had found the conversation out of place and had asked to come down, shortly after one of the two passengers requested that the driver should enter a street where he would alight. The driver according to her, struggled to open the door, while he stretched from his seat to help her. When the door was eventually opened and she came out, one of the passengers pushed her, while the car zoomed off, only for the victim to discover they had taken her phone and purse.

Ms. Antonia on discovering, flagged down a motorcycle and was lucky to catch up with the suspects, reclaiming her phone and purse, while the suspects told the crowd they discovered she dropped both properties and were intending to locate her. Ms. Antonia in her interview added that she attempted scribbling down the number plates of the car, but the numbers were faded and almost invincible.

Students of the University of Ilorin have been walking around with four eyes, ever since Ms. Aishat Kuranga was declared missing on 24th of July, and subsequently Ms. Ruth Afolabi on August 8, 2018; who was eventually found. All students are 200L students of the institution.
